Release Notes

29/01/2013 update - added two missing Microsoft.Practices dlls into the site bin folder

Introduction

Fuse8.CMF is free open source Content Management Framework based on Microsoft .NET 4.0, MVC 3.0

The CMF is free and open source. Feel free to use the CMF and improve/fix it for your own site or sites of your clients, just keep the Fuse8 copyright in the admin area and do not fork or develop your own CMF (or any kind of publicly available framework / module library) based on Fuse8.CMF. In other words: all your modifications/improvements shouldn't be public. Fuse8 Group Ltd owns the right to develop the CMF further. Drop us an email though, if you'd like to contribute a bugfix or new feature.

Manual for the admin area UI and API is in the development now. Please check its current version attached to this release.

Short instruction:

0. Extract the files from the archive.
'Latest' folder contains standard Fuse8.CMF site solution template.

1. Create a site in IIS 7/7.5 (Use .NET 4.0 Integrated Mode for the Application Pool)

2. Point the site root to Latest\Web\FrontEnd

3. Restore the database backup from {Latest\_db\YourSite_Database-Backup-v1.5.873.bak} on your MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (EXPRESS edition is enough)

4. Adjust the following settings in the Latest\Web\FrontEnd\Web.config as needed

...

<connectionStrings>
<add name="CmsDatabase" connectionString="Data Source=YOURSITE-MSSQL2008R2-SERVER;Initial Catalog=YourSite_Database;user id=xxxxxx;password=xxxxxx;min pool size=5;max pool size=200;connection timeout=60" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

...

<add key="SystemSenderEmail" value="do-not-reply@yoursite.com" />

...

<mailSettings>
<smtp deliveryMethod="specifiedPickupDirectory">
<network host="localhost" port="25" defaultCredentials="true" />
<specifiedPickupDirectory pickupDirectoryLocation="d:\Websites\!SmtpPickBox" />
</smtp>
</mailSettings>

<!-- Please note that if you point the emails to non-existing folder (or use invalid SMTP settings), you'll get an exception when adding new admin area user. -->

5. The site should work Ok now. It contains single page (you can add more pages in the admin area).
In order to access the admin area go to something like http://www.yoursite.com/admin or http://localhost/admin
Login: sysadmin
Password: 1

6. Please change the password as soon as possible.

7. Now you can start designing/HTML coding the site templates (Latest\Web\FrontEnd\Templates)

8. If you're going to do some programming (develop a Poll or a Forum or some other modules), please rename the solution file from Fuse8.Websites.InternalSites.TemplateWebsite.sln
to something like YourCompany.YourClient.YourProject.sln and then open the solution and do Search-and-Replace
to rename the namespace 'Fuse8.Websites.InternalSites.TemplateWebsite' into 'YourCompany.YourClient.YourProject'

9. We know that Fuse8.CMF has quite limited number of built-in features and definitely has some bugs, but we constantly improve it, therefore please check the new releases.
